How to Decorate a Board and Batten Bedroom Wall

Just a few weeks ago we created a very easy and inexpensive board and batten accent wall in our guest bedroom.  Check it out Here.  When I decided on this design I knew it would create a beautiful space for artwork or decor.  Letting the accent wall be a part of the design.  

There are a plethora  options.  Now to decide what I wanted in the space.

Wall Decor Options

There are so many wall decor options,  I have created unique and beautiful spaces in the bedrooms in our home.  In our primary bedroom I went more rustic.  I found an old window frame that I have added beautiful layers too a large frame and metal ring and greenery.  To see how we created their unique and pretty accent wall check it out Here.  

Our main guest bedroom has some cute farmhouse signs welcoming our guests. I hope they love the warm welcome to our home and enjoy their stay.  There is also a beautiful grid accent wall.  It is one of my favorite DIY projects, check out the process Here.  

 

And the other guest / grand babies bedroom has a large frame with antlers and a farmhouse sign.  Each are pretty and unique.  I love combining textures and decor, that creates something special and beautiful.  If it seems like we have a lot of guest bedrooms, we are empty nesters so the kids room are now considered guest bedrooms.

Beautiful Artwork

I love beautiful art and photos.  When I say I love beautiful art I don't mean actual originals that are thousands and thousands of dollars.  I do enjoy art museums but I don't have a home that works with original art.  Or my budget isn't conducive to expensive art.  But I do love much more affordable pieces that are large and pretty.

There are so many places you can find affordable art pieces, some are framed and some are canvas.  I did a lot of looking on Amazon, at Hobby Lobby, Kirklands and At Home Stores. There were so many beautiful options.  I fell in love with this collage.  I don't think this will work for the bedroom but I love these so much I may be putting them in a different area of my home.  Follow the affiliate link to get yours here.

Beautiful Basket Wall

I love beautiful basket walls.  There are so many beautiful examples of boho basket walls.  This was also one of the options I considered when I was deciding how to decorate my board and batten accent bedroom wall. 

Making a basket wall look good means you need to make sure you invest in a variety of baskets sizes and colors.  You will want to keep it neutral but adding baskets with a variety of designs in them creates a beautiful wall.  Make sure you don't get too many designs but having a couple in a large basket wall is ok.  You just don't want to get dizzy looking at all the designs on the wall.

Collage Wall Decor

Creating a collage wall is a little tricky but if you do it right it looks amazing.  This requires some thinking, collecting items that work together and laying it out.  To get a visual I lay it on my floor, move things around and adjust until I get the design I am after.   

Then I like to trace all the frames on butcher paper and start taping the templates to the wall.  Making sure it looks amazing, not too busy and fills the space properly.  A collage wall is one of the hardest things for me to get right.  The frames need to look good together, I also like it when the photos have the same overall coloring.  If I'm doing family pictures I like to find ones that are taken in the same place so the backdrop is the same.

Decorate a Board and Batten Accent Wall

After a lot of looking, weighing out the options I decided what I wanted to do.  I wanted the wall decor to be minimal with clean lines.  So I started looking for the large canvas art that was the right price and would look amazing in the space.

I wanted something with a little color and texture, plus being large enough to fill the space.  This is the piece I finally decided would create the look I was after in the space.  It had the colors I was after and I really loved the textures.

There are so many options to decorate a board and batten bedroom wall.  My favorite thing about home decor is it can be changed if you are ready to do something a little different.  Thats my favorite thing about decorating.
